It’s National Farmers Market Week and we at the TaSH have been singing our vendors’ praises all week. Farmers Markets need all of our support because they boost the economy, preserve farmland and rural livelihoods, increase access to wholesome fresh food and support healthy communities. And most of all, the fresh local food sold at farmers markets is unsurpassed for taste, freshness and nutritional value. It comes right from the farmers hands to your home.

Thank our farmers and vendors this week. … Because they’ve got all kinds of goodies in store.

Here’s just a smattering:

Trotta Foods is embracing the season with fresh summer squash ravioli and basil pasta. (Don’t forget to also pick up some of their fresh mozz and some gorgeous tomatoes and basil from Blooming Hill, Fishkill Farms, Mead Orchards, Mobius Fields, JD Farms or Gaia’s Breath. With some Arlotta Food Studio olive oil. Oh my!

Mobius Fields has a boat-load of adorable Patty Pan squash and is handing out recipe ideas to boot!

Just in time for the BBQ, Pickle Licious is offering a pickle special: “Full Sours” (“a garlic-lovers paradise”) are $1 off this week. (Nice with a burger from JD Farms or Southtown Farms sausages … just saying).

We also welcome back Gourmet Home Chefs with ratatouille (ask Pat how to make it and then pick up some eggplant from our farmers and go home and stew up a batch), and some seasonal Caprese sandwiches.

We are also happy to have back Clean Ridge Soap Co. Try Mia’s homemade alcohol-free liquid soap.

It’s gonna be a scorcher this week, but we’ve got you covered! The Tarrytown Rec Department is hooking us up with a sprinkler in the park! Oh yeah!

Right after you’ve done your shopping, splash around and then settle in for awesome music on the Green all day with Jason Glisser and Cornbread Jam. There is no better way to spend a late summer afternoon!

We also have some “Adventurous August” foods for you to sample – look for our TaSH Hands circulating with a tray through the market. And don’t forget to get your temporary I Love My Market Tattoo!

See you at the TaSH!
