DEI Statement

Rivertowns Village Green Inc. is committed to making The TaSH Farmers Market accessible to all residents of the Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow communities. We strive to integrate the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion into every aspect of our work to establish a market environment where all our neighbors can feel welcome and represented. From embracing and promoting diversity in our organizational leadership, market staff, vendors, volunteers, community partners, and sponsors; to prioritizing equity across our organizational policies, market programs, and food access initiatives; to ensuring that we actively foster inclusion in our approach to recruitment, partnerships, vendor selection, and educational and cultural programming; we’re committed to creating a sense of belonging for everyone.

DEI Policy

Rivertowns Village Green Inc. is committed to cultivating and preserving a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion across the organization and The Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow Farmers Market (The TaSH). Through our policies, operations, and programs, we strive to create a welcoming environment where all community members, partners, vendors, volunteers, staff, and board members are treated with respect and dignity. We do not tolerate discrimination, biases, harassment, or bullying of any kind.

We embrace and encourage differences in race, gender identity or expression, ethnicity, age, disability, family or marital status, language, national origin, physical and mental ability, political affiliation, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, veteran status, and other characteristics that make our organization and community unique.

We identify the societal inequities that impact our community and strive to address them within our systems, policies, programs, and services in order to ensure that all community members have the opportunity to contribute, participate, and grow at The TaSH.

We proactively promote inclusivity by identifying and addressing accessibility gaps to ensure that the rich diversity in backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives within our community are reflected in our leadership, volunteers, vendors, products, and programs.

Our DEI approaches and initiatives are applicable—but not limited—to our practices and policies on board, staff, and volunteer recruitment and selection; vendor selection; product offerings; community partnerships; sponsorships; marketing and promotions; food access initiatives; and educational and cultural programming.

As an organization and Board of Directors, we agree to uphold and be guided by these principles and pledge that they will be reflected in our mission, strategic planning, programming, governance, and board composition. Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion extends to our staff, volunteers, and market activities and programs.
